FMCH employs over 450 highly dedicated professionals including 27 health care providers.

FMCH was named a Top Iowa Workplace for the Mid-size division in 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015 as recognized by the Des Moines Register.

FMCH created a Reward & Recognition Team focused on making FMCH a great place to work; they have recognized an Employee of the Month each month. The Employee of the Year, Michelle Callahan- Moore, was announced at the Employee Banquet in May 2015. She joins Dr. Timothy Staudte, 2014 Employee of the Year.

Partnership with the Community

The total economic impact FMCH had on Lee County was $39,964,375 in 2014 (as reported by the Iowa Hospital Association).

In keeping with their mission to advance the health of our community, FMCH donated the land and $100,000, payable over two years, to the Fort Madison Sports Complex. They also made a $5,000 donation to PORT of Fort Madison to help build a recreational trail system.

FMCH developed and presented a wide range of community education including FMCH Health Care University; Sleep Health; Falls Prevention; Estate Planning; CPR/AED training; First Grade Tours; and the annual Women’s Health Conference, just to name a few.

FMCH partnered with the Lee County Health Department and Keokuk Area Hospital to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment.  This consisted of a community wide survey and town hall meeting.  The following health needs were identified as areas that FMCH will focus on in 2014 (in order of perceived need):

  • Recruit Mental Health Providers; add placement options and funding
  • Increase nutrition and fitness
  • Improve bicycle and walking trails (FMCH has both an indoor and outdoor walking trail open for public use)
  • Decrease teen pregnancy/single family households
  • Increase preventative care services
  • Recruit Psychiatrist

Quality Service

FMCH received multiple recognitions in 2015 for the quality of the care that they provide. 

FMCH completed a total renovation of their Emergency Department in 2015, creating a safer and more efficeint environment for both our patients to receive care and our staff to work.  A redesign of the Mammography Suite in Radiology was completed in first quarter 2016 showcasing the new 3D Mammogram Machine.
