Avatar International Inc. Announces FMCH is a National Award Recipient for Exceeding Patient Expectations in Service Quality for 2003

Fort Madison Community Hospital has been recognized as a national award winner in healthcare service quality for “Exceeding Patient Expectations” by Avatar International Inc., the leader in measuring customer expectations in healthcare.

In making the announcement, Dr. Michael Everett, Avatar Founder and CEO said, “This award is recognition of the hospital’s commitment to provide exemplary service to its community. Patient surveys provide valuable feedback to help hospitals continuously improve service quality. When needing healthcare, you want to know that you are not only receiving the best clinical quality but also the best service quality. We at Avatar feel very fortunate to help hospitals make such a difference to each and every patient.”

In accepting this award, Jim Platt CEO of Fort Madison Community Hospital said, “Through the patient survey process, we gain insight into patients’ expectations for service quality. For example, we monitor the responses to pain management to see if we are keeping our patients comfortable so they do not experience any avoidable pain. Our surveys are very important to our hospital to help us understand, monitor, and exceed our patients’ expectations. We hope that all of our patients complete a survey when they receive it.”

Business and industry is customer driven, according to Dr. Everett, and succeeds only through understanding, anticipating and exceeding customer expectations. As customers to healthcare, patients not only want their expectations met but exceeded. Avatar’s innovative survey methodology gives healthcare organizations the ability to identify and monitor patient expectations.

This is the second consecutive year that Fort Madison Community Hospital has been recognized with this award.
