| A look at FMCH's Emergency Department Registration Desk.

In 1997, FMCH completed a new Emergency Department addition, which was built on the north side
of the hospital complex. This addition houses the Emergency Room. Its
design features a multi-track entry system to reduce waiting time for patients and provide
for each individual's care through the most appropriate unit. The Emergency Room is open
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to treat conditions when a patients' regular physician is
unavailable.
Features of the Emergency Room include:
- Accredited Level III Area Trauma Care Facility
- Physician-staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
- A spacious, circular drive-through to accommodate multiple emergency vehicles
- A decontamination shower room
- A large, double-bay trauma room and two private treatment rooms
- A private consultation room for families dealing with grief over a loved one in trauma or in a life-threatening situation
- 3 Clinic examination rooms to "fast-track" our non-emergency patients
- Holding room for those patients who require extended observation with all the comforts of a normal patient room
Appropriately, the Emergency Department is situated between the hospital's
Surgery and
Radiology Departments and is just opposite the hospital's lighted helicopter pad. This layout
is most advantageous when dealing with cases of trauma or life-threatening situations.
