Birthing Education

• Baby Maybe: This class will cover topics of interest to women who are thinking of becoming pregnant. The session will cover nutritional needs/food choices, medication concerns, vitamins, financial considerations and exercise/activity. Dinner is provided during this class. This class is held in the Willard Conference Room (located in the lower level of the new addition) and is held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Please call The BirthPlace at 319-376-2229 to RSVP.

• Early Pregnancy Class: This class is offered during the first trimester. It is an introductory course led by an OB Nurse and a Dietician. Topics include: healthy eating, weight gain, pregnancy complaints/concerns and breastfeeding versus bottle. This class is scheduled for a 2 hour session. Please call The BirthPlace at 319-376-2229 to set up a time.
  
  
• Prepared Childbirth: This class is offered during the last trimester. This is a 4-part course to prepare mom and her partner for the birth experience. Topics include: relaxation, breathing, pain control, labor & delivery, C-Section, mom & baby care and breastfeeding. A tour of The BirthPlace is included. This class is held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the FMCH Willard Conference Room.

• Prepared Childbirth, One Day Session: This class is offered during the last trimester. This class is offered during the last trimester. This class offers the same topics as the 4-part Prepared Childbirth course but in a special one-day session. Lunch is provided. This session runs from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and is held in the Canella Conference Room.

• Sibling Class: Children age 3-12 are invited to participate in FMCH's Sibling Class. This course helps children prepare and adjust to a new baby and is offered during the last trimester. The one-session class runs from 6:00-7:00 p.m. This class is held in The BirthPlace.

• Baby Weigh In: These sessions allow time for mothers to offer each other support, talk about breastfeeding and weigh their babies to check their growth. These sessions are offered weekly for new mothers only. This session is held in the FMCH Foggy Conference Room.
