Remember when doctors made house calls? Now you, too, can receive healthcare in the comfort of
your own home because the professional nursing staff of Fort Madison Community Hospital does
make house calls! Services are available to residents of Lee, Des Moines, Van Buren and Henry
counties including new mothers, patients recently discharged from the hospital, patients
recovering from surgery, heart attack or stroke, disabled individuals, and Alzheimer patients.
FMCH Home Health Care also has a Registered Nurse on call 24 hours a day for those unexpected
incidents.
Services offered by FMCH Home Health Care include:
Provided by a Registered Nurse
- Dressing changes and wound care
- Urinary catheter care, care of feeding tubes and drainage tubes
- Administration of I.V. Insulin and instruction
- Medication management and assessment of unstable medical conditions
Provided by Professional Therapists
- Physical, speech, or occupational therapy to recover from an illness or injury
Provided by Home Health Aides
- Assistance with walking and grooming, such as bathing, dressing and nail care
- Shopping, simple meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry
Provided by a Companion
- Safety, companionship, and simple activities of daily living
- Simple meal preparation and shopping
- Light housekeeping and laundry
Provided by Social Workers
- Evaluation of financial needs and assistance in obtaining local support services
- Counsel and ensure emotional needs of individual and family are met
