Fort Madison Community Hospital's Surgical Services Department is small enough to offer
personalized, friendly care and fiscally responsible enough to provide the latest technology.
Patient care is provided by a surgery staff with an average of 25 years of experience.
Features of FMCH's Surgical Services Department include:
- 4 high-tech operating rooms
- Post-anesthesia care
- Sterile processing
- Private, comfortable waiting area for patients' families
Surgical services are offered in the areas of ear, nose and throat, gynecology, maxillofacial,
pediatric, urology, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, thoracic, trauma, podiatry, orthopedic,
vascular, athroscopy, laproscopy, endoscopy, and general surgery.
A patient is prepared for a same day surgery in FMCH's Surgicenter.

The surgeries listed above are offered on an inpatient and outpatient basis. In 1999, a
state-of-the-art SurgiCenter was added to Fort Madison Community Hospital to serve same day
surgery patients. Features of the SurgiCenter are:
- 10 private rooms furnished with a comfortable lounge chair and TV that patients use before and after surgery
- Bright, cheery atmosphere
- Play equipment for children including a toy car, complete with a working horn, which youngsters can drive to the operating room
- Nourishment center for light meals and snacks after surgery
Surgical Services provides 24-hour emergency coverage and performs scheduled surgeries
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
