FMP&S My Care Walk-in Clinic Welcomes New Nurse Practitioner

Fort Madison Physicians & Surgeons My Care Walk-in Clinic is proud to welcome Family Nurse Practitioner, Sara Gudenkauf to their health care team.
Gudenkauf received her Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Creighton University and then went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing degree from University of Nebraska Medical Center with emphasis on adult medicine and acute care.  She worked for Midwest Cardiology in Omaha, Nebraska before deciding to go back to school for her Post-Master’s Certificate- Family Nurse Practitioner, to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, from the University of Massachusetts.

Gudenkauf finds working in health care both challenging and rewarding. “I really enjoy helping people be more proactive about their health. Taking care of patients is like solving a puzzle, listening to them and looking for the right clues to diagnose the problem.  Once you have figured out what is going on, the next step is coming up with the best treatment options, taking into consideration the whole person. Having children with severe food allergies, I can relate to the concerns patients have about finding a solution that works for them to their health care concerns.”   She has this to say about providing care in the FMP&S My Care Walk-in Clinic, “There is a real sense of teamwork in the clinic. Everyone seems enthusiastic about providing the very best care possible to their patients. And the support of the professional staff creates a positive atmosphere.”

Gudenkauf moved to the area with her husband, Mark, their two young sons, Tristan and Isaiah and their dog Amber.  They are looking forward to becoming a part of the community and taking advantage of all the outdoor activities available in our area.

Gudenkauf will work with Family Nurse Practitioners, Amy Wallis, Chelsea Youmans and Nicki Gellatly in the treatment of patients in the FMP&S My Care Walk-in Clinic.  The Walk-in Clinic at FMP&S was established to offer guests the convenience of receiving health care when it best fits their schedule. My Care is open Monday through Friday from  10 a.m. to 6 p.m.;  and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the FMP&S Main Clinic. My Care Walk-in Clinic is open to patients of all ages; no appointment is necessary. My Care Walk-in Clinic is available to treat non-emergency conditions like allergies and infections, abrasions and bruises, colds and flu, and sprains and pains.
