Dr. Lisa Bishop Joins FMP&S Internal Medicine Clinic

FMP&S Internal Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Lisa Bishop.  Dr. Bishop joins Dr. Vanaja Thondapu, Dr. Roseller Libarnes and Dr. Artemio Santiago in the care of adult patients at FMCH.

Dr. Bishop completed her Residency at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines and received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

“After spending the majority of my 3rd and 4th year of medical school at FMCH, I knew this was the community and the hospital I wanted to come back to,” expressed Dr. Bishop. “My passion is primary care because I enjoy building relationships and developing the continuity of care that Internal Medicine encompasses. Patients care about how they are treated, not just as a patient with a medical problem but as a person. Patients want a physician who is trustworthy, confident, one who actually listens to what they have to say in addition to the ability to competently treat and manage their medical needs. I know that I have the skills and characteristics that make me that kind of physician.”

Dr. Bishop will provide health care to adult patients, age 18 and over. Focused on prevention and wellness, as well as chronic disease management, doctors of internal medicine are specially trained in conditions that affect adult patients and in solving puzzling diagnostic problems. They partner with their patients to treat the whole person.

“My grandparents, Dave and Fran Sprunger, raised their family in Fort Madison. My mother, Deb Bishop, graduated from Fort Madison High School. I have been coming to southeast Iowa multiple times a year since I was born and I am excited to make this community my home.”

Dr. Bishop is accepting new patients. To make an appointment call, 319-376-2725. For more information, go to www.fmchosp.com.
