Dr. Bob BadgerBob Badger, D.O., joined the medical staff of Fort Madison Physicians & Surgeons clinic in 2006. As a Family Practice physician, Dr. Badger sees patients of all ages.Dr. Badger completed Medical School and his residency at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) in Kansas City, Missouri. Born and raised in Missouri, Dr. Badger decided to enter the medical profession to “serve the patient from the perspective of ‘people don't care how much you know until they know how much you, the doctor, care.’” He has worked in careers in the medical field with this perspective for the last 21 years. “It is my responsibility to aid patients in all dimensions of health- the physical, psychological and even the spiritual. I embrace the opportunity to participate in all these facets of a patient's health when appropriate," said Dr. Badger. “I advocate that developing a doctor - patient relationship, with all that entails, is the best approach right now to either maintaining or regaining health, which is everyone's goal,” continues Dr. Badger. Dr. Badger finds being a doctor very fulfilling. “Medicine, as a discipline, encompasses elements such as: being in awe of the human body, seeking scientific knowledge, participating at both the individual and community level in the betterment of society, and being constantly challenged to be engaged in the struggles and joys of others. I can think of no other profession that combines these elements to produce a satisfying life experience,” said Dr. Badger. Dr. Badger relocated to Fort Madison with his wife, Betsy. He also has two grown daughters. His interests include collecting pottery and other artifacts, traveling and trout fishing. “As a biologist by training, I love exploring the world via hiking, biking, boating, etc. I enjoy just about any reason to be outdoors to absorb the wonders of the natural world,” said Dr. Badger. Dr. Badger combines his love of traveling and that of helping people by participating in medical mission trips to Haiti and Guatemala. His trips have made him even more appreciative of everything we have in the US and also have caused him to reflect on the three quotes he lives by: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart." -Helen Keller “What you are is God's gift to you, what you become is your gift to God." "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Dr. Badger is now accepting patients. To schedule an appointment, call 319-376-2134. Back to Meet Our Physicians | ||||||||
