Dr. Roy Tinguely
Dr. Tinguely attended the University of Notre Dame for his undergraduate degree. He obtained his MD from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and completed his surgical residency at the UNDSM Department of Surgery. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. He has been practicing at FMCH since 1995. Dr. Tinguely is currently the Physician Manager for Fort Madison Physicians & Surgeons. "Diagnosing most surgical problems is like solving a puzzle. You ask the right questions and the pieces begin to fall into place. Fixing those problems can also be challenging, but I really enjoy the technical aspects of the operations I perform. I have never had a problem with the 'blood and guts' that turn off many people, and that is one reason I went into surgery." Three areas that Dr. Tinguely has a special interest are laparoscopic (minimally invasive surgery), breast diseases and trauma or emergency surgeries. "Laparoscopic approaches have made such a difference in shortening the recuperation time after surgery. Breast cancer diagnosis and treatments have changed so much in the last ten years that it demands one keep up with the times, providing not only quality treatment, but with better cosmetic results." Dr. Tinguely developed the Trauma System for FMCH and is the Trauma Medical Director. "Trauma care can be hectic and gets your adrenaline rushing, but those first few minutes are very important and often saves patients' lives. Sometimes it is just like on TV's E.R.!" As the first employed physician, Dr. Tinguely has enjoyed the last six years at FMCH and the Fort Madison area. "The people couldn't be friendlier, and it is a real pleasure to return the favor when they need surgical attention." Back to Meet Our Physicians | ||||||||||
