Kathleen Canella Family Scholarship Recipients Announced

The 2007 Kathleen Canella Family Scholarship winners were announced. This scholarship provides funds to students pursuing a career in a medical field. It is available for high school seniors or recent high school graduates of Fort Madison Community High School and Holy Trinity Catholic High School. It is also available to non-traditional college students. Scholarship recipients were chosen on grades, leadership, character, community activity and financial need. The Kathleen Canella Family Scholarship was established in memory of Kathleen Canella, a dedicated FMCH Auxiliary member and hospital volunteer.

This year’s winners were:

  • Amanda Gaffney, Fort Madison Community High School. Amanda will be attending Mount Mercy College working towards a degree in Nursing.

  • Nichole Meierotto, Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Nicole will be attending Saint Ambrose College and majoring in Pediatric Nursing.

  • Stacy Schivley, Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Stacy will be attending St. Ambrose College majoring in Pre-medicine.

  • William Helling, a 2005 Graduate of Aquinas Catholic High School. William is currently attending Western Illinois University majoring in Therapeutic Recreation.

  • Carrie Kruse, currently employed at Fort Madison Community Hospital in the Laboratory Department.

  • Barbara Allen, currently employed at Fort Madison Community Hospital in the Laboratory Department.

  • Michelle Dunn, a 2005 Graduate of Fort Madison Community High School. Michelle is currently attending Coe College majoring in Nursing.
