Who will provide these services?

FMCH Laboratory Services holds all of their staff members to the highest level of accreditation and quality measures. They are a very important part of your health care team, working closely with your health care providers.

  • Medical Director, Dr. Alexander Pederson, Pathologist, oversees the FMCH Laboratory Services.
  • Director of Laboratory Services, Becky Hunter, Medical Laboratory Technician, leads this team of professionals.
  • Fourteen Laboratory Technicians, accredited by the American Society of Clinical Pathology*, the highest level of accreditation available, collect samples and perform tests to analyze body fluids, tissue, and other substances.
  • Nine Phlebotomists draw blood for various tests and procedures.

What Services do they provide?

FMCH Laboratory Services provide a complete range of services using the latest in computerized, automated equipment. Your doctor may order laboratory tests for you as part of a routine checkup, or to confirm a diagnosis or to monitor your health. These include:

  • Arterial blood gas analysis (ABG) measures the levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood to determine how well your lungs are working. An ABG test uses blood drawn from an artery, where the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels can be measured before they enter body tissues.
  • Immunohematology, more commonly known as blood banking,
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC) gives important information about the kinds and numbers of cells in the blood, especially red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
  • Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP) blood test that measures your sugar (glucose) level, electrolyte and fluid balance, and kidney function.
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) a blood test that measures your sugar (glucose) level, electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney function, and liver function.
  • PT/INR and other coagulation studies
  • Creatinine tests measure the level of the waste product creatinine in your blood and urine. These tests tell how well your kidneys are working.
  • Glucose Tolerance test measures the body’s ability to use a type of sugar called glucose. Used to diagnose diabetes, pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes.
  • Hepatic (Liver) Function panel is a blood test to check how well the liver is working. This test measures the blood levels of total protein, albumin, bilirubin, and liver enzymes.

Diagnostic testing for COVID-19 at FMCH is $115 - cash price.  Please consult with your health insurance carrier on your benefits and what, if any, of this charge you will be responsible for paying.
