Drowning in a sea of health insurance information? Well your SHIIP has come in. SHIIP, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program, was created in 1999 by the State of Iowa's Insurance Division. It is staffed by well-trained, senior volunteers and locally sponsored by Fort Madison Community Hospital.

SHIIP volunteers can help seniors and their families find answers to important questions on Medicare, supplemental insurance, long-term care insurance, other health insurance issues and Medicare prescription drug coverage.

  • Organize your medical bills, Medicare statements and file claims.
  • Find assistance from other agencies, including Medicaid, when it's appropriate.

A SHIIP volunteer can help you find answers to questions such as:

  • I can't make sense of my Medicare statements and medical bills. What should I do?
  • Is long-term care insurance a good option for me?
  • Do I need a Medicare supplement policy?
  • How can I help my parents with health insurance issues?

Call SHIIP today at 319-768-3342 to schedule an appointment with one of SHIIP's experienced volunteers.
